Gordon "Butch" T. Geggie
Gordon "Butch" T. Geggie, 71, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, August 2, 2016.
Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Jean (Douthwright) Geggie. Gordon was retired from the City of Moncton Fire Department with 28 years’ service and attended First Baptist Church Moncton. In his early years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He was a member of the Moncton Motorcycle Touring Club, Skyline Kite Club and former member of the Fundy Radio Club and the Moncton Lions Club. A ham radio operator (VE9BU), he loved many trips to Bangor for weekend getaways. One of his most favorite trips was visiting family in Taunton, Mass, USA and visits to extended family in North Sydney, NS. He was a lover of animals, especially his dog, Molly, who could always be found by his side; also, he loved taking Molly for walks on his electric scooter. A jokester, he loved playing practical jokes on his family and friends and enjoyed making wooden ornamental crafts.
Gordon will be sadly missed by his wife, Janet (MacDonald) Geggie of ten years; son, Benjamin (Krista) (aka Susie); stepchildren, Jodie Santiago (Ildo) and Michael Laffin (Michelle); six step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; aunt, Shirley Gallant; many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant sister, Sandra.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to celebrate Gordon’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 10:00 am, with Pastors Paul Steeves and Sandy Sutherland officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service.
