Norman Stanley Strickland

Norman Stanley Strickland

Norman S. Strickland, 74, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, December 4, 2017. Born in Halifax, NS, he was the son of the late Norman and Beatrice (Kendall) Strickland.

Norm was retired from the Moncton Police Force and the RCMP, with 31 years’ service. He worked mainly in Drug Enforcement and loved his work. Norm delighted in the years spent coaching his sons in basketball and football, loved to golf and enjoyed all sports. He was a past member of the Moncton Curling Club and the Moncton Golf & Country Club and enjoyed time spent with friends at The Liars Table at the Fox & Hound.

Norm is survived by his wife, Susan (Delaney) Carey; his children, Cherilynn Diotte, Lisa Strickland (Sam), Curtis and Shane Strickland; stepchildren, Melissa and Michael Carey (Emma); grandchildren, Dylan, Samantha, Tyler, Nowlan, Knox and Finnegan; sister, Millie Spencer (Edward), as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Davidson.

Special thank you to Dr. Harb for his excellent care. Norm enjoyed extra years because of you, Dr. Harb! Norm wanted to say thank you to the girls at "Club Chemo", he loved you all! You made his days at the clinic as happy as they possibly could be. We will never forget you! Thank you, Dr. Darren Martin and Dr. Pat Phelan, for your care and compassion; to EMH for the care they gave Norm these final months and to the Palliative Care Unit at The Moncton Hospital. To Rody and Anne Canning, our extended family and friends, your love and support has meant more than you could ever imagine!

A Service to celebrate and honour Norm’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 1:30 pm. A reception will follow in the Funeral Home Reception Centre.
