Maria Sperring, 89, of Moncton, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Saviour at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, February 9, 2018, after a brief stay. Born in the Netherlands, she was the daughter of the late Hindrik and Anne (Cleveringa) Hoven. She immigrated to Canada in 1947 and became a Canadian citizen.
Maria was a woman of great faith, prayer and thanked God every day for the almost 90 years that He gave her. She was a member of Highfield Baptist Church, the W.M.S., the choir and served her church in various other capacities over the years.
She was the beloved mother of Edwin Mann (Dawn) of Moncton, Anna Tucker of Moncton, Debbie Steeves (Dan) of Berry Mills and Wendy Mann (Jim) of Moncton; stepchildren, Enid Eck (Brian) and Audrey Kimball (John), both of California, Jim Sperring (Wendy) of Moncton. She treasured her children and was always there for them. She was the beloved grandmother of Sarah (Troy), Nancy (Paul), Laura (Jeff), Charleen (Ronnie), David (Lisa), Barbara (John), Tiffany (Curtis), Ashley (David) and Jared; two step grandchildren, Jenna (Joey) and Eric (Amanda). It gave her much delight to watch them grow from childhood into adulthood, she was proud of them all. Great grandmother to 21 great grandchildren, who always put a smile on her face. Sister, Didy Prinzen (Hendrik) and sister-in-law, Anna Hoven, both of Ontario. She will be missed dearly, but she is finally getting rest and peace with the Saviour, whom she loved and served.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Lloyd Mann (October 1974) and second husband, Rev. Ernest J. Sperring (March 2009) and brother, Frederick.
