Calixte Joseph Cormier
Calixte J. Cormier, 93, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital Centre on Thursday, November 7, 2019.
Born in St. Damien, he was the son of the late Albert and Laudia (LeBlanc) Cormier.
Calixte was retired from CNR with 40 years’ service. He attended Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix Roman Catholic Church and enjoyed all sports, especially horse racing and was an avid Wildcats fan.
Calixte will be sadly missed by his daughters, Monique Gaudet (Guy) of Grand Barachois, Gisele Cormier-Cameron (Pat) and Debbie Melanson, both of Moncton; grandchildren, Janelle, Brandon, Chelsea and Taylor; great grandchildren, Alek, Brielle and Emmett; sister, Yvoniste Pellerin of St. Antoine; brothers, Alvin Cormier of St. Antoine and Jules Cormier (Bernice) of Leominster, MA; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jeannine (Melanson) Cormier (2009); brothers, Pius LeBlanc, Valmont Cormier and Prem Cormier and sister, Elsie LeBlanc.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Monday, November 11, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed immediately by a Service to celebrate and honour Calixte’s life in Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. J. B. Mallais presiding. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery in Notre Dame on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 10:00 am.
