Edward A. Somers, 94, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, June 24, 2020.

Born in Bangor, Maine, he was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Grant) Somers.

Ed was a Veteran of WWII, having served with the Canadian Army. He was a former car salesman at Steeves Motors Ltd. and a former credit manager with Brentwood Motors Ltd. A long time member of Lewisville Baptist Church, he was a former Church Deacon, former Adult Sunday School Teacher and served his Church in various other capacities over the years. Ed was a member of The Gideons for over 44 years. An avid reader, he enjoyed woodworking, oil painting and socializing with friends and family.

Ed will be sadly missed by his children Elizabeth "Betty", Charles (Susan), Dale (Wendy), Susan Walsh (Bob) and John; grandchildren, Tammy Clement (Marc), Jeff (Andrea), Jillian Somers and Lauren Wilson (Tommy); great grandchildren, Ashley (Skylar), Dan (Payton), Brandon, Rowan, Avery, Alice, Taylor and Charlotte; two great great granddaughters, Kinsley and Emma; sisters, Vera Green, Phyllis Guptill and Betty Brown, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jean (Blakley) and several brothers and sisters.

A private family service will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995).
