M. Joan Mabee
Joan, a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, died peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital in the early evening hours of Friday, October 16, 2020. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Jane (Leake) Sisson. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her cherished husband, K. Raymond Mabee and brother Kenneth Sisson.
Joan loved her family, and they will miss her loving, comforting, and supportive nature; Daughters, Diane Mitton (Mabee) of Riverview, Catherine Mabee (Marc Demers) of Kingston Ontario, and beloved Grandson, Mark Mitton (Katherine Hanscom) of Moncton. Joan had a special relationship with her grandson, Mark, who lived with her for many years. In addition, she is survived by her cousin, Lorna Parlee; nieces, Barbara Baxter and Jane Jorgensen.
Joan will be remembered for her love of life. She was an extraordinary hostess for family and friends, especially during holidays and festive occasions. She enjoyed her employment with Trans-Canada Air following her clerical education at Mount Allison University. Joan was a long-time member of First United Baptist Church and had committed her life to God. She was a member of the Moncton Probus Club, Red Hat Society and a lifetime member of the Westmorland Historical Society. Joan was a founding and lifetime member of Sir Charles G D Roberts Chapter, IODE. She currently held the position of secretary. She was past president of her chapter, as well as past provincial president from 1990-1993.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A service to celebrate and honour Joan’s life will be held from the Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Dr. Richard Jackson officiating. Interment will be held in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
