Earl Ross Petley

Earl Ross Petley

Earl R. Petley, 82, of Harcourt, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at his residence on Thursday, March 25, 2021.

Born in Harcourt, NB, Canada, he was the son of the late Earl and Susan (Morris) Petley.

Earl was a Tool and Die Maker at Simonds Industries with 25 years of service before retiring back to NB Canada. He previously worked at Independent Lock Company for 15 years and the CN Railroad. He was a Veteran of the US Army. Earl was an active member of the Grangeville Baptist Church and served his church in various capacities over the years, such as the Men’s Breakfast which he always looked forward to, and also serving as a head usher. He was a previous member of Highland Baptist Church in Fitchburg, Mass, where he was involved in the Christian Service Brigade and served on the baptismal committee.

In earlier years, Earl (otherwise known to many as Ross) loved to hunt and fish, play cards and listen to music. He enjoyed socializing with friends and spending precious time with his family.

Earl will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, Jeannette (Godin) Petley of Harcourt, NB Canada; daughters, Brenda Ashton (Joseph) and Bonnie Francis (Richard), both of Fitchburg, MA and son, David Petley (Heather) of Leominster, Mass; grandchildren, Amy Mansfield, Beth Ashton, Heather Francis (Harry), Heidi Vargas (Camilo), Jessi Francis (Ryan), John Petley (Kerri), Danny Petley, Jenny Allen (Dylan), Erin and Matthew Petley; great grandchildren, Timmy, Molly and Jane Mansfield, Madison, Jack and Josie Petley, Gabriel and Bella Vargas, Chase and Logan Napolitano and Sofia Francis; sisters, Linda Ptak (Francis) and Susie Moschner, both of Massachusetts; sister-in-law, Jackie Petley of Ohio and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Earl was predeceased by two sisters, Gayle and Judy and brother, Brian.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Extra Mural Nurses of Kent for their wonderful care.
