After a nineteen year battle with kidney disease and nearly 17 years on dialysis, Lorne chose, with dignity his final journey, after discontinuing dialysis. He passed on July 20, 2021, at the age of 84.

He is survived by his wife Jacqueline (Chapman), his daughter Cindi MacNeill (Randy) of whom he was so proud and his granddaughter Alexa MacNeill who gave him so much joy in the last 17 years, willing him on in his illness.

Lorne was born in Humphrey’s Mills, to the late Lorne and Elsie (Patterson) Boutilier. He retired after a 31 year career with CN, retiring in 1988.

He was a 33 year volunteer with the Moncton Fire Department. He was a past master of Keith Lodge, F. & A.M. and a past Grand Persuvant with the Grand Lodge of New Brunswick with 55 years. He was a past patron of Fidelity #36 O.E.S. Riverview, with 48 years service.

Visitation hours will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Sunday, July 25, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. A Fidelity #36 O.E.S. service will be held at 1:30 pm, followed by a Keith Lodge F. & A.M. service at 1:45. In keeping with Lorne’s wishes there will be no funeral service.
Interment will be at the Highland View Cemetery, Amherst.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lottie L. Kyle scholarship fund (www.oesnb.ca), the Kidney Foundation (kidney.ca) or a memorial of your choice. Online condolences for the family may be shared on Fergusons Funeral Home Facebook page or at

God saw the road was getting rough.
The hills were hard to climb
So he gently closed his eyes
And whispered peace be thine.
