Thomas Joseph Queena, 81, of Moncton, passed away at The
Moncton Hospital on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Born in Swampscott, Mass,
U.S., he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Coyne)
Queena.
Thomas retired as a dedicated, loyal salesman for Eastern
Bakeries and was a longtime member of St. Bernard’s Roman
Catholic Church. He served as Coast Guardsman for the United States
Coast Guard on the USCGC McCulloch and attended the US Coast Guard
Academy studying LORAN - long range hyperbolic navigation
systems.
Adored by his wife, his children and grandchildren. He was
kind, thoughtful and witty. Thomas was a man of deep
faith.
Travel was a love of his, especially when it included
visiting his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed soaking up the sun
in the Dominican Republic, the beaches of Florida, canoeing, and
throwing his grandkids off the floating dock into Lake Winniepesaukee.
Thomas attended may NHL hockey games in FL, MA and TX with family and
friends.
Thomas was known for making the absolute best Italian
meatballs and sauce.
Many will remember him for flooding the backyard in winter to
make a skating rink for his children and their friends.
As an avid cyclist, he was dedicated to training on his
bicycle in his home gym.
A regular at Tim Hortons, he enjoyed socializing with family
and friends. Thomas passionately cheered on his hockey team, the
Boston Bruins. He spent many hours having conversations with his
family via Facetime.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Jean Queena of
Moncton, New Brunswick; his daughter, Jeannette Queena Kos (Steve) of
Flower Mound, Texas; his sons, Thomas E. Queena (Patty Dumont) of
Manchester, New Hampshire; and Paul Queena (Lisa Bertin) of Oviedo,
Florida. Grandchildren include Sydney and Rachel Kos of Flower Mound,
Texas; Camille, Luca and Nico of Manchester, New Hampshire and Tony
Queena of Oviedo, Florida. He is also survived by several
sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended
family.
In addition to his parents, his sister Eileen (Queena) Ryan
and brother-in-law Lawrence Ryan preceded him in
death.
Visitation will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657
Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995) on Wednesday, May 18, from 7-9
p.m. A Funeral Liturgy will be held from the Fergusons Funeral Home
Chapel on Thursday, May 19, at 1 p.m. A reception will be held
following the service. Interment will take place at the Roman Catholic
Cemetery in Acadieville in a private family ceremony.
