It is with heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Chrystal Jewett, 57, of Moncton, on Saturday June 11, 2022.
Miss J, as she is affectionately referred to by former students and colleagues, was a lifelong educator for over 30 years, with most of that time as a member of the Beaverbrook School family. As evidenced by the outpouring of social media tributes following the news of her passing, the positive impact Chrystal had on the lives of everyone who knew her will be felt for generations to come.
Chrystal’s unconditional love for "her kids" and her sincere and active interest in their well-being extended well beyond the classroom. Every year she proudly watched as her former students graduated from Harrison Trimble and the number of them who returned to visit her after high school was remarkable.
A true "legend", Chrystal brought life, joy, and light to everyone around her and will be fondly remembered by all for her larger-than-life personality, her boisterous laugh, and all the lives she changed for the better. She loved spending time with close friends, "Those Guys" and her "Angel Sisterhood" and cheering on her favourite hockey team - Go Habs Go!
Chrystal was predeceased by her parents, John and Connie Jewett (Leger). She will be sadly missed by her brothers Michael (Leanne) and Gary; nephew Jon (Annie); niece Natalie Dutt (Chris); sister-in-law Linda Jewett; great nieces and nephews Dylan and Trystan Stephens, Leighton, Ryder, and Everly Dutt; many friends, former students, and colleagues.
To honour Chrystal’s legacy as an outstanding educator, the Chrystal Jewett Memorial Bursary has been established. The bursary will be awarded annually to former Beaverbrook students graduating from Harrison Trimble High School that are pursuing a postsecondary education. Those who would like to contribute to the bursary may do so online by visiting the following link - (angloeast.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/22838/30/False/True.)
A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2022, from 5pm to 8pm, at the St. James Gate Event Room, located at 14 Church Street, Moncton.
