It is with sadness that Gary, Marilyn and Donna announce the passing of their mother Evelyn Frances Steeves on the morning of her 100th Birthday, on Sunday, August 28th 2022, at The Grass Home.

Mom was born in Edgetts Landing, Albert County. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Grace (nee Smith) Steeves. Mom was a member of Sunny Brae Baptist church and a life member of Olive Fynney WMS. She also volunteered at Spencer Memorial Home for many years. Mom enjoyed entertaining and hosted many gatherings at home as well as at their summer home in Osborne Corner with family and friends. Mom was a devoted and caring grandmother, we could always count on her to babysit our children, days, nights and many extended long weekends.

She will be sadly missed by her son Gary, daughter Marilyn Ayles (late Victor Ramsay), Donna Thompson (Dennis Power); her ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, son in law Ralph Magee (Ann), niece and nephews, cousins and extended family.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Predeceased by her husband Alden; daughter Karen Magee, daughter in law Beverly Steeves, sister Dorothy Steeves (Earl), great grandchildren at infancy; Emma, Jordan, and Baby J.

"We have lost our mother but her memory and all the wonderful times we shared remain engraved in our hearts, we will miss you forever Mom."

The family wishes to thank John and Lynn Grass of The Grass Home, all staff past and present, for all the love and care they gave mom. Special thanks to her family physician Dr. Stacey Morris and extra mural nurses who provided so much care over the last few years.

We would also like to thank Michael Trueman of Lawtons Drugs, Elmwood Drive, who always showed much kindness towards Mom.

Last but not least Dr. Peter Stoddard (now retired) who was moms’ physician for so many years. Mom appreciated you beyond words.

A Service to celebrate and honour Evelyn’s life will be held on Thursday September 1st, 2022 from Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) at 1:00 pm with Rev. Colin Cook leading the service, with a reception to follow. Interment will be held at Elmwood Cemetery following the service.

Memorial donations may be made to Sunny Brae Baptist Church (sunnybraebaptist.com), or to a charity of the donors’ choice.
