George Alfred Daley, 89, of Moncton, with
his loving family at his side, died peacefully at The Moncton Hospital
on Wednesday November 14 in the year of our Lord, 2012. Born in Saint
John, he was the son of the late Allen and Katherine (Pike) Daley.
George was a retired technician and Plant Chief with CN/CP Telegraph,
with 35 years service. He was a dedicated churchman at Saint John
(Stone) Church and St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Moncton, where he
served many years as an Elder. An avid reader and student of history
and public life, he also loved fishing, classical music and choral
singing. George was a member of the Moncton Area Amateur Radio Club,
the Moncton Senior Amateur Radio Club, the Radio Amateur Club of
Canada and Moncton Legion Branch #6. He was an RCAF Radio Operator in
WWII and was a survivor of the sinking of the HMCS Caribou off
Newfoundland.
George will be sadly missed by
his loving wife of 58 years, Margaret (Simonson); son, David (Lisa) of
Cleveland, OH; daughter, Kathy of Moncton; precious granddaughters,
Rachel-Anne, Chicago, IL, Rebekah-Lee, Raleigh, NC, Ruth-Abigail, Ann
Arbor, MI and Hannah-Beth, Cleveland, OH; nephews, Brian Daley and
Alan Daley (Merian), both of Quispamsis. In addition to his parents,
he was predeceased by his brothers, Kenneth Daley (late Ann) and
Arthur and Donald Cunningham.
Moncton Legion Branch # 6 Memorial Service
to be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 77 Hildegard Drive,
Moncton on Tuesday November 20, 2012 at 10:30 am,
followed immediately by a Celebration of
Life Service for George, with Rev. G. David Daley and Rev. Dr. Martin
Kreplin officiating. Reception in the Church Atrium following the
service. Interment at Ocean View Cemetery, Saint John.
